I'm trying to research carnivals, circuses, etc. at the turn of the century. Easier said than done, apparently. Does anyone have any resources in regards to these things that they could point me at?

I'm looking at travelling circuses, but I'm also interested in anything that might have been stationary at that time, if there even were such things.

I've already googled practically everything that I could think about involving "winter", "fairs" and the states I have in mind for it (practically everything next to the Canadian border from New York to Minnesota) but everything was too big or not the kind of fair I'm looking for.
